Christmas! and LOTS of pictures...

Here I am, barely awake at 7:00 pm on the day after Christmas, and I am EXHAUSTED! We had such a busy few days and I am now going to recap them for you. :)

On Wednesday I went to work (boo) and then we headed out to Joe's parents' house for our Christmas with them. It was also his brother's birthday so we celebrated two occasions in one.
Chris and his Frosty cake!

My sweet MIL

Rhonda and her Pooh Bear.

Joe loved Pooh too I guess...

Then on Thursday, some of our church went to Wayside Christian Mission in Louisville to help out for a few hours. Wayside provides presents, clothing, and food, and even shelter to people in Louisville who have nowhere to stay or can't provide presents for their kids for Christmas. It is a really great thing. I didn't take any pictures so I had to steal some from my mom.

My aunt, Susan.

Sorting clothes...

My cousins, Alan and Will.

Thursday night we went to the Shafer's house. The Shafers and the Voelkers are two families that my parents have been friends with for years. We all used to go to church together. All their kids grew up together, and we try to get together around Christmas time.  The youngest of all the families now is Caleb, who is one, and he was pretty much the center of attention for the night. Forgot my camera for this one too. .. :)

Me, Anner, Emily, Bree.

Caleb and his train.

He had the cutest PJ's!

Friday was Christmas Eve and we did Christmas with my family that morning, after going out to breakfast. We were going to go to Joe's mom's family's Christmas that night, but it snowed and we didn't want to fight the weather. Joe and I ended up seeing the new Narnia movie instead, and it was awesome!

Bree showing off her stocking.

Mom and season one of Glee.

My Harry Potter blanket!

Joe's UK jacket.

Dad opening some shoes I think...lol.

Emily's Snuggie!

Yesterday we spent the day at my aunt Susan's house (my dad's sister) like we always do. It was a lot of fun, we had a big breakfast, played some games, read the Bible, opened presents, ate again, and left. There has been so much eating going on...

My pretty sisters.

<3

My parents...Dad looks sleepy lol.

My grandma with my cousin Sarah.

We draw names on this side of my family and my granpa got my name. He thought it would be funny to give me $40 in quarters as my gift...ha....ha...

A picture of my grandparents on their wedding day. So sweet!

My sister in her new hat.

Today (the last day of festivities) we had church and then my mom's family came to my parents house for our Christmas with them. My cousin, Maddie, was the center of attention at this one.
My cousin Jake and my mom. It was Jake's birthday too.

My grandma, my cousin Jennifer, and Maddie.

Joe being lazy.

My grandpa, my aunt Donna, my mom, and my grandma.

My dad and Maddie.

Needless to say, after all of these festivities, Joe and I are WORN OUT! I actually fell asleep in the 20 minute drive from my parents house to home. It has been a crazy but rewarding week. And let's not forget the reason we celebrate at all - Jesus. He is the reason for the season, and without him I would not be anywhere close to where I am in life today.

I am going to go watch Prince of Persia now. :)

December....

I really feel like I have nothing to blog about. I guess it's because most of the people that I follow or read about have kids or are about to have kids or something of the sort and I am not in either of those categories right now. Sometimes it feels like other things going on could not be nearly as important as blogging about kids.

Anyways I decided to just talk about what has been going on because my life, albeit baby-less, is still important!! :P

Joe and I both finished up our semesters officially last week. WOOHOO! Joe had one Masters class and received an A (of course, overacheiver...) and I had five undergrad classes and received 2 A's and 3 B's. Which is pretty awesome considering how crappy I did my first two years of college and that I also worked a full time job this semester. I'm amazing.

Also, next semester I will be undertaking SIX, count them SIX classes whilst working full time. And two of them will be in the classroom, whereas I only had one in the classroom this semester. It's going to suck, but I know in the end I will be so proud of myself. When May rolls around I will have completed eleven classes in ten months. :) Working full time and going to school full time is hard, but I am so blessed to still be able to work full time and to have the job and the bosses I have. They are so understanding and work so well with me! It's great to know that for as long as I can work full time, I will be able to. I was worried I would have scheduling conflicts.

What else what else....oh I got a new camera which is fabulous and I have been taking pictures of anything and everything to showcase its glamour. It is seriously wonderful. In fact, here is a picture of Joe and I at my work Christmas party, taken with said camera:

It's great!

Anyways Christmas is in exactly one week and I am nearly done with shopping, I just have one more thing to buy for my youngest sister. My mom and I braved the chaos of the mall today and I was exhausted afterwards! Shopping is hard work.

I think now I am going to go enjoy this month of December (and lack of classes) and finish the UK game with Joe by the fire. Did I mention I LOVEEEEE winter???

I suck

I have hardly blogged at all, and definitely have not followed through with my commitment to be thankful for something each day in November. Tomorrow is the last day of the month! I would use school as an excuse, but many times I sit down to start a blog and feel like I have nothing to say. Hopefully soon I will rise above this funk. :/

On a happier note, I enjoyed 5 wonderful days off with my husband last week. I truly cannot get enough of him!!! It made going back to work that much harder. I hope we always appreciate and love each other this much, if not more. :)

Tuesday, November 9, 2010

Well...

I have clearly slacked off in the "thankful" department. I should have kept it up because the past two days I have not be in a thankful mood.

To catch up, here are five things I am thankful for:
1 - Pumpkin spice lattes.
2 - My doggie, Colt.
3 - Sleep
4 - My job...it has its days, but I am blessed to be employed.
5 - Friends!!!!!!!

I have some great friends, and I don't take them for granted becaues I have been through my fair share of not-so-great ones. I am thankful for each and every one.

I guess I should get back to work now....I have so much running through my head it's hard to get anything done. I was in a funk like this yesterday and I tried to dismiss it this morning but it seems it has returned.

I am not sure why I am feeling this way, but for now I will blame it on school and the end of the semester. At least it's almost over. :)

**P.S. I figured out my blah problem....I never see Joe! Not for more than two hours a day usually. It is depressing. Thankfully, the holidays will allow us much more time together. :)

Jesus

Today I am thankful for Jesus. I am thankful for what he did for me on the cross and what he continues to do daily. I am going through a rough time and I constantly feel his arms around me and I am so thankful for that. Even when I don't deserve it, he loves me still.

Lately I am learning (difficultly) to let him plan out my life. I am such a planner, I can see my whole life in my head. But where does that really get me? It gets me heartbroken everytime something doesn't happen the way I want it to, or at the time I want it to. I get angry with God for not doing things my way. Who am I to tell him what's best for me? The following are parts of three songs I have listened to today that help me through.

What do I Know of Holy? - Addison Road
Yours - Steven Curtis Chapman
Walk by Faith - Jeremy Camp

These are my favorite lyrics from Yours. I love this song and sometimes we forget that everything really is his. It's up to us what we do with what he gives us.

And its all Yours, God, Yours, God

Everything is Yours
From the stars in the sky
To the depths of the ocean floor
And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
You're the Maker and Keeper, Father and Ruler of everything
It's all Yours

I hope everyone has a blessed day. :)

3 days in a row!

I'm so proud of myself for blogging so much!

Today I am going to be sappy and say that I am thankful for my husband. He is exactly what I need and has qualities I never even thought to ask God for in a man. After a few bad relationships and trying to plan it all out for myself, I handed my love life over to God and let him finally find someone for me. And of course his choice was better than any of mine had been!

Joe is a wonderful loving man and as long as he is by my side, I know we can get through anything and everything together. I love him so so so much.

That's him - looking sleepy haha.

I just found this song by Matthew West that is us perfectly, so I will share it...
It's called "The Day Before You"

I had all but given up on finding the one

that I could fall into
On the day before you
I was ready to settle for less than love
and not much more
There was no such thing as a dream come true
But that was on the day before you

Now you're here and everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
and find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back
to the day before you

In your eyes I see forever
and it makes me wish that my life never knew
the day before you
Oh, but heaven knows those years without you
were shaping my heart for the day that I found you
And if you're the reason for all I've been through
then I'm thankful for the day before you

Now you're here and everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
and find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back
to the day before you

It was the last day that I ever lived alone
And I'm never going back
No, I'm never going back

Now you're here and everything's changing
Suddenly life means so much
I can't wait to wake up tomorrow
and find out this promise is true
I will never have to go back to
I will never have to go back to
the day before you

Quickly, because Nov. 2nd is almost over....

Today I am thankful for the right to vote! It is such an important thing and I'm proud to be a part of a country where voting is even an option.

This is short but it's late and I'm tired. :)

I promise I really will add picture to these later.

November

Well it's November! I have decided that despite my busy schedule, I am going to TRY to blog everyday about something I am thankful for. And also post a picture. :) Today I am thankful for boots.

Here is why:

1 - I love them.
2 - They keep your feet warm and dry.
3 - They are stylish. :)
4 - Joe is not working today and I am, so I am very grumpy about that, and wearing my favorite boots makes me feel better. :)

Hey...I didn't promise everything I am thankful for would be meaningful or insightfull or unsuperficial in any way....

:)

Happy November!

I can't think of anything creative....

Just a warning: This will be full of random things.

I can't believe it's almost November! I have really been slacking on blogging lately but my life is so busy. I know everyone is busy but seriously....

I am in five classes (which I am doing quite well in, thank you very much) and working full time. One of those classes is actually on campus so I am doing that on tuesday and thursday evenings. Wednesdays we have church, and Mondays and Thursdays Joe has basketball games. So our free days are the weekends, which are usually crammed with stuff. So I try to finish my homework throughout the week so I won't have to skip weekend festivities! And now I am trying to get ahead on some school work so I can finish the semester early. That would be wonderful. We will see how it goes, lol.

I am so looking forward to the holidays. Joe and I already got our Christmas present for each other - a new computer. We desperately needed one and it was expensive so no more gifts for each other! (We say that now but we will see if I actually stick to that plan.) But I am just so excited about all the other things that come with Christmas. It is getting closer and closer, I can smell it in the air!

We have so much to be thankful for this year. The list is truly endless. God blesses us on a daily basis in ways that we sometimes overlook and in ways we definitely don't deserve. One thing I am most thankful for is my daddy and how everything went so well with his transplants. His story is truly a miracle.

Have a blessed day! <3

Updating....Finally!

It is September 25th and how sad that I have not updated since the first. This is probably a lame excuse but I honestly have no time to do it. Between church, work, school, homework, time with Joe, and catching up on my beloved TV shows that are starting back, there is hardly time for sleep, let alone blogging! Today is a Saturday and I am at work, so I thought I would squeeze in a post between what I'm really supposed to be doing - working.

My dad is doing better, slowly but surely. He is feeling depressed and impatient because he isn't healing as fast as he would like to but that's just part of it. We are supposed to be taking a family vacation to PCB next week so hopefully that will lift his spirits. We may not go depending on how he feels, but I am still going to take that week off of work even if we don't. I need a break!

School is CRAZY. I have no other words for it. I am six weeks in with eleven left. Not too bad! I am keeping my head above water, but tomorrow I am going to work on getting ahead, like I was at the beginning of the semester. That's the only way to juggle five classes and still get good grades. Speaking of school, I had to observe my freshman science teacher, Mr. Fredricks, for my Intro to American Education class. It was a lot of fun! I thought I wanted to teach elementary school but now I really don't know! I will have to see how observing that age goes. Because I really loved high school and watching his class was a lot of fun. All i know for sure is this: 1) I will be a teacher, and 2) I will NOT teach middle school. I just can't do it. Someone would die.

So in all this busy life, I basically never see my husband. That's just part of it I guess! Even when we are home together, we are in separate rooms doing our own thing. Oh well, this too shall pass. :)

I am very excited that September is ending and October is near! It is one of my favorite months. Hopefully it won't still be in the 90's like it was yesterday. Blah. I want to wear a hoodie and watch some leaves change color already!

Pancreas

Gah I am EXHAUSTED! That isn't even the half of it....

So I got a call from my dad yesterday morning around 5 am telling me that he just got a call from Jewish hospital and it's time for his pancreas transplant. I thought he was joking. If you know my dad at all you know that pulling this kind of joke is not beyond him.

See he has only been on the list for a pancreas for three weeks. He had a kidney transplant in December 2007 and they mentioned a possible pancreas transplant in the future. For those that don't know, my dad is diabetic. And for lack of any medical knowledge, I will just say that means his pancreas doesn't do it's job. So we knew it was a possibility. A few months ago he started heading down that road....getting his gallblatter removed, different things working towards this transplant. Then they made him active just three weeks ago.

Anyways, we all get up to the hospital around 6:30. "All" meaning my dad, my mom, my sisters, me, Joe, my grandma, and my aunt Susan my dad's sister. So they tell us they are making sure the tissue on the pancreas matches, and they should know that by 9 oclock and start the surgery by ten. Well of course nothing started on time, but long morning short, they did match, and the surgery was underway around 12. We were initially told that it would take 5-7 hours, then my dad's surgeon said it would probably take between four and five. Well it took just under four hours and the whole thing was done.

And of course this whole time people are coming and going, and texting and calling, and commenting my mom, sisters, and me on Facebook (thanks to all for your prayers!) and then he is sent to ICU and in recovery. So different people get to go back and see him at different times, and my mom and I ended up spending the night at the hospital. And we were there all day today, minus a quick four hour break to rush back to Hardin County and take showers, change, eat, not look like death, etc.

Then we head on back up there and we find out that he's doing so well they are going to go ahead and move him from ICU down to the transplant floor. Normally he would have to spend at least two nights in ICU so this is good news, yay! So they move him down there around six (I am majorly guessing at times here) and more people come to visit. I head home with Angie and Bree around 8 and here I am, with Joe, staying at my parents' house with my sisters for the night, back to work in the morning!

Now after reading all that, maybe you feel like I do right now, like it FLEW by. A whirlwind of miracles, and prayers, and sleep depravation. Basically this is what I have to say at the end of these two crazy days:

Thank you Lord!

There are really no other words than that. It is completely insane to me to think that Monday night we all went to bed "without a care in the world" and here we are, 48 hours later and our lives are changed! Whether anyone realizes that change or not, we have been blessed with possibly many many more years with my dad. God has great plans for him! He has been diabetic since before I was born, I truly cannot describe to you how BIG OF A DEAL this is!

I just hope that by this example you will all realize the power of PRAYER in our lives. My God is mighty to save.

Stereotypes....

I am in a Women's Studies class this semester and the first discussion board required us to describe three encounters we had recently with gender stereotypes. The following is my post to the discussion board. I thought they were relevant issues and I want to see what others think about it!

---------------------------------------------------------------

My top three encountered gender stereotypes from the last 24 hours include: me being expected by society in general to cook dinner for my husband, watching a television show where a woman was assumed to be a better gynecologist than a man, and people telling me that I should wait until I am done with school to have children because it will be “too hard.” Although no one ever tells a man to stop what he is already doing just because his wife is pregnant.

These stereotypes, as I’m sure you can tell by now, upset me.

First of all, I do not understand why I am expected to not only know how to cook, but have dinner ready on the table for my husband every night. Now, just so everyone knows, my husband is not the one who makes me feel this way. It is several others in life. Family members, other friends, who DO cook all the time, coworkers, etc. all respond in disbelief when I tell them that I rarely cook for my husband, and I can count on one hand the things I even know how to cook! It truly feels as if the day I got married, I was expected to wake up as a walking, talking cookbook, ready and willing, regardless of whatever I might have going on, to cook a meal on demand. I am a full time student AND employee and I just don’t know where and when I am supposed to learn to make these four-course meals everyone seems to think I should make.

Secondly, I watched a show today where a character assumed that a female gynecologist would be better equipped to help his pregnant girlfriend. I didn’t realize so many people may feel this way, but it seems to still be a common stereotype in today’s society. Many women only feel comfortable going to a female gynecologist, not only for the sake of modesty, but also because they feel like the woman may better relate to them and their pregnancy. However true this may be for some, there are plenty of capable male OBGYN’s out there.

Thirdly, certain people in my life have taken it upon themselves to tell me that since I am in school full time, my husband and I should definitely WAIT to have kids because I would never be able to handle that kind of schedule. Now, despite the fact that this unwarranted advice is incredibly rude, presumptuous, and offensive, it is also stereotypical. My husband is a full time teacher and basketball coach, and he is halfway done with his Master’s degree. No one who has given me this advice has asked me to pass it along to him, nor has anyone given it to him personally. It’s as though it’s okay for him to work and take classes full time, because he is the man and that’s his job. My “job” would be to obviously be the only one feeding, changing, bathing, rocking, caring for my child, while my darling husband is off at work, supporting us. I have a wonderful husband, and I am blessed to be able to say that our marriage is a partnership and he doesn’t have these stereotypes. But so many people in the world still do.

My question is, what if the roles were reversed? What if my husband loved to cook and always did? What if there were NO female gynecologists? What if my husband chose to quit his job completely and be a stay-at-home-dad whenever we have kids? I’d like to say that everyone in our lives would support us in those decisions, but the fact is, that’s not true. People would be startled when learning these things. It is degrading, not only to women, but in the case of being a gynecologist, I feel it is degrading to men as well. To assume that one can do something better just because of their gender is ignorant.

These stereotypes are both indirect and direct, I think. They are so common that I think people still overlook them, and don’t consider them to even be stereotypes. However, they are, and we need to take the necessary steps to learn from them. We should all be more open-minded and supportive when someone in our lives chooses to do or be involved in something that would normally be assumed as a role for the opposite gender.

Taco Bell and Fall.

Emily came to see me for lunch today. She brought me Taco Bell and I was very excited because I have been eating extremely healthy lately and while that is imporant, I felt the need to indulge. :)

This is Emily after the Taco Bell....

Obviously there was something in it. She looks like she's taking flight.

Anyways I don't know about anyone else, but I am ready for fall for the following various reasons:
1 - I love sweaters.
2 - Pumpkin spice lattes.
3 - There is basically a holiday every month. (Yes I include Labor Day) which means time off work and lots of food.
4 - Cold weather!!
5 - Using my fireplace.
6 - Joe's birthday
7 - Football
8 - Hot chocolate. (Technically you can have this year-round, but it doesn't make sense to me when people drink it in July.)
9 - Leaves changing color.
10 - My hair does much better without humidity.

These are just ten of the many reasons fall is the absolute best time of the year. :)

School and Babies.

I am trying to blog as much as I can before school starts and I will be in a shell in my home, studying, at all hours I am not at work. :/

I say this with disdain but I am actually quite excited. :)

I used to dwell a lot on the fact that I am so behind in school. But I guess that depends on how you look at it. There are a few people that I graduated high school with that graduated college on time, but most didn't. I have decided not to be too hard on myself about the past. I can't change the choices I made or the reasons why I am not done yet, I can only move forward from here. So that's what I'm doing.

Here are 6/7 of my books for the fall semester:

Okay, subject change. Most of the time, I can't wait to have kids. I see people with babies and my stomach turns to knots, I want one so bad! But Joe and I know that when the time is right, it will happen. It's just really hard for me to be patient. :) However, I do enjoy it being just the two of us sometimes. I know I will miss being able to get up and go to a movie whenever we want, or just laying on the couch together. At least I know we don't take our time together for granted. Here is a pic of Joe on one of our spontaneous dinner dates.

He's a cutie. I am blessed.

August Already???

I truly cannot believe it's August! It feel like just yesterday I got MARRIED, and it has already been more than a year! Time just flies. It has made me realize even more that we shouldn't waste the time we have been given on this earth.

I have about a million things to talk about, but I won't be able to think of them all, I'm sure.

Joe starts school back on Wednesday. Well, he is there today but the kids come Wednesday. We are both bummed that summer is "over" but he is excited about the new year, I know. He is going to be so busy. He is the 7th grade team leader, assistant basketball coach, AND he is still taking master's classes. I'm sure he will throw in some detentions and Saturday schools in there as well. He is taking a lot on but I know he will just breeze through it with flying colors. He always does. I am so proud of him. :)

Lately I have been struggling with what to do with my life. I mean I am 22, and most of the people I graduated high school with (well I shouldnt say most...I'll say SOME) have already graduated college and here I am, without even an associates to my name! And no idea what God wants me to do!! After much prayer and discussion with my husband, my mom, and my advisor, I decided to go into elementary education. Being a teacher runs in my family really, and being married to one would be great, we will have the same schedule! I think I could really be blessed with this as a career.

So I decided since I actually have a set goal in mind, to stop waltzing through college with one class here and one class there and actually try to knock a few out. So I'll be going back to full time status in the fall, along with my full time job! I am scared, nervous, and excited. But now is the best time really. We don't have kids, and Joe will be so busy this fall anyways, I might as well do something productive.

A lot of decisions have been made today and I am really looking forward to what God has in store for our future. It is exciting making plans, but even more exciting when you know they are the right ones. :)

Anyways, summer is over, I guess. Even though technically, weather-wise we still have a couple of months left. We did a lot this summer considering Joe was taking four master's classes. Just two things left to do: Holiday World, and the zoo. Will we accomplish our goal???

Only time will tell....

:P

busy busy busy!!

I have so much to blog about....when will I ever find the time?!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

Dear God....

I have really been struggling in my walk and I need some prayer. I want to follow the path God wants for my life but I don't know what that is. I have prayed about it a lot, and I'm waiting...but patience is so hard for me.

I have been feeling guilty lately about years I wasted on things that are not remotely important, instead of furthering my relationship with God and others' as well. I feel like I am trying to make up for lost time now, and even then I don't do what I should....

I know none of us are perfect, but still.

Lately I have been fearing God more than loving Him. I wish it wasn't that way, and I am doing my best to change it. I want to give Him complete control of my life, I know that's the only way I will be truly content. I just don't know why it feels so hard for me.

Please pray for me.

Nashville Day Three/July 4th

This post is also late. Who cares, it is a lazy day!!!

We slept in yesterday morning and took our time getting ready to leave Nashville. This is David and Serena having a pillow fight before we left...

He really beat her up, lol...

Then we proceeded to find the Parthenon in Nashville. Joe loved it! We took a bunch of pictures but these are my faves:

We then proceeded to go find the Opryland Hotel and the Oprymills Mall. But they told us they wouldn't be done renovating because of the flooding until November at the earliest! It was very sad :(

So we decided to head home a couple hours early. We went to our seperate homes and checked on our doggies, and then we met back up and went to my aunt's house for some July 4th fun. Bree took this adorable picture of Serena:

Isn't she beautiful??

So, in conclusion, we had a wonderful weekend with some of the best friends anyone could ask for. I can't wait for the next Honaker/Munoz family vaca!! :)

Nashville Day 2

Yeah Yeah Yeah I didn't post last night, who cares?? I do what I want. :)

So yesterday we got up bright and early and ate some breakfast, and then proceeded to lay around for a couple of hours until we left for the water park. (I am not too sure why we got up so early but oh well.)

So we got to the waterpark (Nashville Shores) and it was awesome! We had a lot of fun, but when we went out to our cars to eat lunch, it started raining! After about 15-20 minutes it stopped, and we went back in. But then we got in line to go kayaking and it started pouring again. So we admitted defeat and gave up on the waterpark. We were there for about five hours so it was worth it, we had fun. And I recommend it to anyone! They have many different water-related things to do, not just water slides and wave pools. And you can play putt-putt and basketball and beach volleyball there too.

So then we came back to the hotel and immediately got in the hot tub since we had been profusely rained on. And we swam around for a little, and Angie and I laid out and then we all came back upstairs, took showers, and went to eat at Fazoli's. Which was stupendous! When we returned, Angie and I watched stand-up comedy on Comedy Central and Paul and Joe went downstairs to play pool for a while. When they came back, they joined our comedy-watching, and then we went to bed shortly after.

All in all, another good day!!

Oh, so Serena has this stuffed Rhino that she takes with her everywhere and his name is Boom Boom. Paulie started calling him Boom Boom Bizzle. So here are pictures of me and Angie with Boom Boom Bizzle.

Nashville Night One

I will be blogging about Nashville, even though we are only staying for a couple of days, so far it has been STUPENDOUS. :)

I had to work today, blah, so Paul and Angie waited to leave and met Joe and I at our house when I got off work. And then we were off! Traffic wasn't too bad so it only took us about two hours to get there. We hung out in the hotel room a bit and got a feel of our surroundings and then decided to order some pizza and spend a little time at the pool. They have a hot tub too and that is always nice!

We then came back to the room, and instead of passing out like all of us wanted to, we changed and went back downstairs to watch the boys play pool for a little while. However, it is just me and Angie in the room now with the kids, because Paul and Joe went to get some Children's Tylenol for David, he is a little sick and running a small fever. :( While we are sad about David's slight illness, we are excited about being silly when the boys are gone. :)

This is our first Honaker-Munoz family picture:

And here is a picture of me and Angie just because we are cute:

Tomorrow we are off to the Waterpark! We are bound to get some good pics, I will be posting more then. Goodnight all. :)

Homework and Anniversaries

I am updating this with no pictures this time since I am at work. SHH!

Joe and I made the very ADULT decision to NOT buy a truck this weekend. We have been having some problems with one of our cars and ultimately Joe wants a truck so we were looking into it and thinking about it. But we decided it would be better for us financially to stick with our two paid off cars instead. And I feel pretty good about it now. Who knew I could be so grown up?? :)

Speaking of Joe, he is up to his eyeballs in schoolwork these days. I basically never see him. :( He is cooped up in the computer room at all times, but at least he is getting it done! Both of us being in school is pretty hard, we have to work out sharing the computer, but I am just taking one class so I don't usually need it as long as he does.

Our anniversary is this weekend so I am hoping we can find some time to do something together. Our adult, responsible budget will not allow for a nice weekend getaway or anything like that, but maybe we can spend the day in Louisville or something. One whole year! I can hardly believe it. It feels like yesterday, and years ago all at the same time.

I am gonna get all sappy now and talk about how much I love him. He is literally the very best person I know. He is sweet and funny and smart and hardworking. I am so happy for the time we've had together and so excited about our future!

Okay I lied about the pictures, this is the background on my computer at work. Us on our wedding day:

Aww we are cute!

Well that's all for now, I guess I should actually do some work.

Birthdays and Bowling

Weeeeelllllll Memorial Day weekend was ZERO fun for my family. My dad was in and out of the hospital, it was just a big mess. So I have chosen to blog about this past weekend instead. :)

On Friday Joe and I celebrated Little Miss Serena's birthday with her family and mine. We had cake and ice cream and present opening at the Munoz residence.
This is Serena opening the greatest present ever...

OF COURSE we had to buy her a UK shirt!!!

So then we all went bowling. Where none of us were good but we had a good time, and that's all that matters right?? Here is my favorite picture of the night for your viewing pleasure...

We like to call that our victory dance. As you can tell, Angie was feeling very victorious.

And this was the first time the four of us (Paul, Angie, Joe and myself) took a picture together!! We made Joe take a step down because of his freakish height.

All in all it was a successful weekend, complete with a Sunday afternoon nap! It doesn't get much better.

Pancakes and Babysitting.

I have never done this before....so I suppose I will have to change things around once I get the hang of it. But today I would like to discuss the lack of cooking/mothering skills I have and how I managed to have a successful night in both regardless.

Joe and I have very good friends, Angie and Paul, who have two kids, David who is 9, and Serena who is 6. We love them!! So we decided to give Paul and Angie a night off and we offered to let the kids spend the night with us. It was fun! Joe played baseball (in the rain) with them and we played the Wii for hours. Can't go wrong with the Wii. Here is a picture of David and Serena beating Joe up after he beat us all at Wii golf.

So Serena and I "made" cookies. Which means I made them and she licked the bowl. And they were good! So this morning when they got up, I decided to make pancakes. Joe made bacon and eggs, which is about the only thing he can cook, so he's pretty good at it. I was nervous about making the pancakes and determined not to call my dad like I always do! So I made them and they turned out delicious! I have no pictures to prove this, but David and Serena ate up my pancakes, and didn't like Joe's eggs!

Sweet victory.
